Abstract: The article focuses on the ways in which the urban housewife as a consumer became a fixture on the London, England stage, particularly in the play "Westward Ho" by Thomas Dekker and John Webster. This play draws attention to the purchasing power of urban housewives. Unlike other city comedies such as "Every Man in His Humor," physical force is not used as a means of restricting the characters. Details are given for "Westward Ho" representing female mobility and buying power.
