Juanita Midgette Spence

RESEARCH INTEREST: Dr. Spence has a special interest and has done research on the “Shortage of African American males in the field of education.” Her dissertation is titled as "Selected African Males Who Chose Teaching as a Career". She continues to research this area.
Dr. Spence is the Director of Library Services at Elizabeth City State University. She began her professional career as the Coordinator for the Curriculum Materials Center in the School of Education and Psychology at Elizabeth City State University and as a Circulation Librarian. In addition to her administrative assignments, she currently serves as the Chair for the Elizabeth City State University Library Advisory Committee. Demonstrating her love of books, Dr. Midgette Spence shows her passion for reading by encouraging young people to read. Dr. Midgette Spence serves on several university and state committees and she is an active member of the following professional organizations: American Library Association, North Carolina Library Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
