John A. Richards

John Richards begins his 24th year at UNCG, teaching in the undergraduate program primarily in the areas of lifetime physical fitness and sports performance and analysis. Additionally he has been the director of the Department’s Activity Instruction Program. John took both his undergraduate degree and master’s degree from Slippery Rock University. He taught for 10 years at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he completed his doctoral degree in sport psychology and motor behavior in 1985. John’s professional expertise lies in the area of teacher training and supervision for university physical education instruction. His professional scholarship interests focus on the tactical approach to teaching sports and games.
