Abstract: The purpose of this study was (1) to survey the situation in Watauga County as it was in 1949; (2) to determine what progress has been made from March, 1950, when the Soil Conservation Office was opened and the technicians began work, to 1960; (3) to evaluate the work that has been done; and (4) to formulate a hypothesis for future land use in the county.
