Abstract: The Tablerock area affords one of the most interesting places for a floristic study in Burke County. It consists of several distinct plant communities thus enabling the author to become familiar with a large diversity of plants. The study area consists of (1) a heath bald with predominant vegetation of Hypericum, Gaylussacia, Sorbus, Vaccinium, Amelanchier, and Viburnum; (2) rich covers composed of Liriodendron, Tilia, Acer, Betula, and species of Orchidaceae and Liliaceae; and (3) dry ridges having Pinus, Comptonia, Vaccinium as the dominant vegetation. The area has been disturbed by hiking, climbing, and logging activities.
