Abstract: The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the Clyde Mood Scale (CMS) were administered to 100 psychiatric in-patients and 63 normal subjects in an attempt to investigate the utility of the CMS. The Pearson coefficient of correlation was obtained between all the various scales of the two instruments. Several significant correlations were obtained for the patients and only a few for the controls. However, there was very little pattern evident when the correlations for the different groups were examined.
