Abstract: With every topological space there may be associated two algebraic structures, namely, the ring of real-valued continuous bounded functions and the ring of all real-valued continued functions defined on that space. In most cases, these rings have a great number of interesting algebraic properties, which are connected with corresponding topological properties of the space on which they are defined.
