Abstract: Admissions personnel at Surry Community College have used students' scores on the mathematics section of the Computerized Placement Test to make placement recommendations since February of 1993. Although the Educational Testing Service has conducted its own correlational research on the predictive validity of the Computerized Placement Test, the present study was conducted to determine the extent to which the mathematics section of the Computerized Placement Test predicted grades in entry level mathematics courses at Surry Community College and to determine appropriate cut-off scores.
