Abstract: The underlying problem dealt with in this study is whether spelling instruction and levels of spelling achievement in the high school might be measurably improved through deliberate emphasis on spelling and teaching procedures consistently aimed at overcoming spelling faults. The problem relates specifically to the nine high schools of Rutherford County, since the writer is a teacher in that school system.
