Abstract: The purpose of this study has been to determine if there is any relationship between the entrance age in first grade and scholastic achievement in the elementary school. Specifically, the objective has been to find the answer to one question: Did the children who entered the first grade at an age older than the required six years, tend toward higher scholastic achievement than the younger entrants in grades one through six in six elementary schools in Dade County, Florida.
