Abstract: Juvenile delinquency is a problem of modern society that appears to attract much more attention than it formerly did. Its prevalence in American life has provoked much comment and criticism. It has been growing more acute in the United States, especially since the days of the severe economic depression of 1930-1940. It has been recognized by humanitarian societies, church groups, public welfare boards, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Congressional committees, and law enforcement officers as being one of the most serious problems with detrimental consequences to society today.
