Abstract: The complex world in which we live today offers much to take the time and attention of us all. Parents, teachers, and librarians often feel that the enthusiasm for the radio, movies, and television leaves little time for the enjoyment of books. Yet, the demands of society point out the importance of reading in school and out-of-school activities.
