Abstract: Given the apparent importance of the environmental characteristic "accessibility" in criminological literature in helping to explain the occurrence of burglary, this paper examined the role of accessibility in reported burglaries of private apartment units in Tallahassee, Florida, which were predominantly occupied by students. The study examined 96 reported burglaries committed at 94 apartment units, within 51 complexes.
