Abstract: The sharing economy expands over a variety of industries and service types and has the capability to reach any number of individuals for a variety of uses and needs. The three generations discussed in this work (Millennials, Generation Xers, and Baby Boomers) come from different times in history and are all currently at different stages of their lives, meaning they have different preferences and different current needs that could potentially be met by the sharing economy. This paper attempts to indicate how individuals participate (as either a user, facilitator, or both), with what type of items they are willing to contribute or share in the sharing economy, and what need the sharing economy may be fulfilling through each generations’ participation.
