Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to orient the conflict of postmodernism and democracy to the conventions of language and the ways in which individuals are lead to mistake metaphor for truth. As the content of this argument is centered around the concept of truth, the metaphor is exposed as a device that both helps and hinders ordinary means of coping with feedback as the line between art and analysis is drawn thicker over time.
