Abstract: Egan, Corrigan and Dwyer (2015) conduct a survey of Ohio residents and collect contingent valuation method data for a wetlands restoration project. The CVM scenario includes a split sample treatment where payment schedules differ. My analysis of these data suggests that there is little evidence of theoretical validity in the data and “fat tails” is a significant problem.
