Dr. Fred Milano

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Milano served in the military as a captain in the U.S. Air Force (1963-1968) during the Vietnam era. He received his doctoral degree from Penn State University in 1977. During his 28 years on the faculty at Appalachian State, he regularly taught a groundbreaking course on "The Sociology of War" (the first course of its kind ever offered at a college or university in the U.S.).
