Abstract: Microstegium vimineum, an invasive grass from Japan and elsewhere in Asia, has become a common pest in forest understories throughout the eastern U.S. Its presence is of particular concern in areas such as Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where it forms dense stands, displacing native plants. The focus of this study was to determine environmental requirements for growth and reproduction of this invasive grass.
