Abstract: As human beings, we all must live with our mortality. However, in our society, it seems that avoidance and denial are the preferred methods for dealing with death.1,13 College and university students, as a subgroup, naturally reflect this attitude. Willmer25 observes, "Generally, [college and university students] do not plan for death and prefer not to consider it" (p, 2). Combs4 supports this notion. After studying the effects of a death education program on college students, he concluded that the denial of death prevented participants from experiencing death fear or anxiety.
