Abstract: This paper explores the underlying philosophies, research and artistic context to the artworks The Presence of Absence, Family Tree, Apart/Together, and Family Home included in the MFA thesis exhibition at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, April through June 2015. My work draws from major themes of memory, family, time, history, and ideas regarding place and spirituality.
