Abstract: The purpose of this prospective study will be to determine the effectiveness of high fidelity human simulation (HFHS) on first year associate degree nursing students’ ability to perform basic physical assessment skills. Dependent variables will include the student’s accuracy and efficiency with auscultation of heart sounds, lungs sounds, bowel sounds, and the palpation of peripheral pulses at the patient’s bedside. Consequently, the research will be to examine if a relationship between student clinical performance and the use of HFHS exists.
