Jennifer Cecile Ph.D

Dr. Cecile joined the chemistry department at Appalachian State University in 2007 teaching introductory and physical chemistry courses. Currently, her research involves techniques from biochemistry, biophysical chemistry and biology. Her research projects include implementing a nematode model system to study xenobiotic transport by OATs, building models of OAT structure to analyze amino acids that contribute to OAT function, and observing functional consequences of genetic splice variants and single nucleotide polymorphisms on OAT protein expression and regulation.

Alanine Scanning Mutagenesis Of A High-Affinity Nitrate Transporter Highlights The Requirement For Glycine And Asparagine Residues In The Two Nitrate Signature Motifs 2012 477 The high-affinity Major Facilitator Superfamily (MFS) nitrate transporter protein NrtA has proved thus far to be intractable to crystallographic procedures. Instead, structural models were developed and are presented here based on the crystal structu...
Regulation Of Renal Organic AnionTransporter 3 (SLC22A8) Expression And Function By The Integrity Of Lipid Raft Domains And Their Associated Cytoskeleton 2013 549 Background/Aims: In humans and rodents, organic anion transporter 3 (Oat3) is highlyexpressed on the basolateral membrane of renal proximal tubules and mediates the secretionof exogenous and endogenous anions. Regulation of Oat3 expression and functi...
