Margie Labadie
Margie Beth Labadie has taught at UNCP since 2004 in the Digital Arts area. She is also Coordinator of the UNC Pembroke “Digital Academy.”
Labadie exhibits her art work, presents workshops and lectures internationally and nationally on digital fine art, artist techniques and creativity. In 2008 Margie Labadie was a visiting lecturer at National Taiwan Normal University. In 2007 she was a visiting artist and lecturer at both the National Institute of Design and Banasthali Vidyapith University in India. In 2006 Margie was a Fubon International Communication Scholar at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
Labadie’s personal, expressive art represent a seamless flow of digital techniques, photography, and traditional printmaking. A member of the Society of the Arts in Healthcare, her recent research includes imagery from recent medical procedures including throat surgery and voice therapy. For many years Professor Labadie’s art has focused on the historical relationships between birds and humans.
Margie Labadie has received a variety of grants including two Teaching Enhancement Awards and one Task Force on Teaching Excellence Award from the UNCP Teaching and Learning Center in 2006-07. She received a UNCP Team-Teaching Grant for Web Design and WWW Information in 2005. Labadie also received a Regional Artist Project Grants for 2004-05 from the Arts Council of Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
She received an MFA from East Carolina University in Printmaking with an emphasis in digital techniques in 2003. She graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia and Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy in 1982.
