Abstract: This investigation focuses upon the role of the teacher as an agent of change in public education by exploring different means through which the teacher might become both more aware and more responsible for his professional experience. By utilizing the methodology of personal inquiry, the study provides a framework and a theoretical grounding for greater agency in both the personal and professional domains (Pinar, 1974) by searching for a better understanding of self and world.
