Abstract: This creative novella titled In the Midst reveals the journey of Penelope Bronze as she is temporarily in a mental hospital. The hospital is very intimidating with a variety of patients with experiences that are all different on the scale. The longer Penelope stays there, the more she sees, and it makes her wonder if there is not more than there meets the eye at this hospital. With more people staying instead of leaving and there being so little staff, Penelope has to wonder how many people are really here and why are some of them seemingly okay with what they see, while she is ready to run.
