Abstract: A major concern facing many small business owners/managers and their employees is stress--its causes and its effects-- and how to manage and decrease it. Stress in employers and employees has been cited as the main cause of many physical, psychological, and emotional problems that result in anxiety attacks, depression, and abused families. Because these physical, psychological, and emotional problems affect employee productivity, many businesses have become aware of the seriousness of stress, and some firms have taken steps to relieve their employees of harmful stress and its health-threatening effects. However, there are positive aspects of stress that cause some people to be more creative and more productive, but this is not true for the majority of today's workers.
