Abstract: This narrative inquiry explores the post-release experiences of 12 men and women from eight states who were convicted of, and imprisoned for, crimes that they did not commit. Preliminary analysis reveals the following themes: (1) reintegration is fraught with challenges; (2) wrongful conviction is pervasive; (3) our due (the State should compensate the wrongfully convicted); (4) doing my part (a desire or obligation to help others who have been wrongfully convicted); and (5) compensation is unguaranteed justice.
