Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present evidence-based guide-lines to facilitate early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of older adults with symptoms of bipolar disorder. Assessment criteria, diagnostic tools, and interventions to optimize care of older adults with bipolar disorder—with a focus on implications for primary care providers—are described.
