Abstract: Our qualitative research study explored four primary questions: 1) whether and how diverse administrators experience subtle, covert and/or overt discrimination in their work environments; 2) what organizational barriers they may have encountered in formal processes such as compensation, advancement, performance evaluation and discipline; 3) the mental and physical impact of perceived discrimination; and 4) specific strategies that administrators have adopted or implemented to overcome behavioral and organizational barriers.
