Abstract: This case describes some of the problems that arose when a company in a rapidly growing industry failed to adapt. It emphasizes the unintended downside of promotion from within. The case focuses on the Human Resources Department and the effect a problem in this area can have, both within the department and throughout the organization. The case addresses organizational culture, issues, that occurred when a closely-held company reached a critical point in its growth.
