Abstract: Infrared investigations of magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium with both N-Hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid and Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid have been conducted in deuterium oxide solutions. The pH of these solutions was varied by adding small amounts of concentrated sodium hydroxide and nitric acid. Infrared spectra were recorded at various pH values for each of the alkaline-earth chelates as well as for HEDTA and EDTA. These spectra were then plotted.
