Abstract: This dissertation examines the legal aspects of administering medication to school students in North Carolina. The purpose of the study is to render educational decision-makers appropriate, accurate information in conjunction with the legal aspects of administering medication to students. Areas of concentration include: (1) the responsibilities of the local school board, administrators, parents, students, physicians, and the school personnel designated to administer the medication, (2) the proper handling, storage, and disposal of medication, and (3) the actual method of administering the medication.
