Abstract: The purpose of the study was to investigate personal values, institutional goals for athletics, and voting behavior of members of the AIAW Executive Board on issues concerning the governance of athletics in the years 1975 through 1977. A total of 47 women who had served on the AIAW Executive Board completed Gordon's Survey of Interpersonal Values (SIV). The scales measured were Support, Conformity, Recognition, Independence, Benevolence, and Leadership. Subjects were assigned the status of High or Low on each of the six SIV factors; they were designated to be Conservative or Liberal in their voting behavior; and they were associated according to their institutions' goals for athletics as Conservative, or Liberal. Data were organized In crossbreak tables for analysis. Fisher's exact probability test and Chi Square were used to accept or reject each null hypothesis.
