Abstract: This document provides biographical information for Higdon and Lowell as well as a discussion of Higdon’s compositional style. It also includes a performance analysis of Higdon’s musical setting of Lowell’s poetry in the chamber work Love Sweet. Information is drawn from published materials, an interview with the composer, and an analysis of the score.
