Abstract: In this presentation we will trace the history and science of searching for alien life in outer space. First we will consider how Hollywood has promoted the idea to sell movies and stir the imagination of the public to believe that extraterrestrial life exits. Then we will present the physics of the situation to determine if in fact it can be so. We will trace the evolution of the universe, of galaxies, of stars and finally of planets to help determine the possibility for life in outer space.
