Abstract: This thesis consists of the first three chapters of a novel, the working title of which is Trying to Reach a Hundred with You. It is the story of Larry Zachary Brian, twenty-three, a community college dropout, resident of Portland, Oregon, whose only ambition has become to fall out of love with one woman and in love with another.
