Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between cooperative teaching and student teaching and explored the possibility that cooperative teaching models could provide a practical framework for addressing the fundamental components of 21st century student teaching. This study focused on an identified convenience sample of practicing student teachers. Data collected described participants’ frequency of use and attributed knowledge base of cooperative teaching models along with perceived supports and barriers that influenced the use of identified cooperative teaching models. The results from this study showed that participants are using cooperative teaching models in instruction during the student teaching experience; however, differences existed between the frequency of use of the three selected models of cooperative teaching.
