Abstract: Dysfunction can be defined as it is by Merriam-Webster as "impaired or abnormal functioning" or "abnormal or unhealthy interpersonal behavior or interaction within a group." Using the former definition my poems often represent dysfunction through depictions of situations revolving around a person or their inner workings such as a brain a heart or an addiction. While these examples are typically used metaphorically in my poems there are a few works that tread medical ground as well leaving metaphors for logic alone and discussing brain tumors or other physical abnormalities where traditional metaphors may be expected. Using the latter definition of dysfunction additional poems delve into the theme on a larger more macroscopic level negotiating the disorganization of groups interpersonal relationships systems and cultures.
