Abstract: The present study was conducted in order to make generalizations about the North Carolina Presentence Diagnostic Program population. Members of this population were individuals convicted of an offense and referred to the department of Corrections for a sixty day evaluation. The evaluations were ordered by judges who felt that more information concerning the individual was needed before a fair and adequate sentence could be given . . . Test results from the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory were used to make generalizations about the PSD sample in relation to two other samples . . . Results were used to construct an intellectual and personality profile to describe the Presentence Diagnostic Program population.
