Abstract: The history of modern nursing in the United States has not been amply explored. Many nurses working today are unaware of important figures from our collective professional past. This article is an attempt to retrieve a small but significant piece of school nursing history by providing a brief biography of Lina Rogers Struthers, the first school nurse in the United States.
