Abstract: It was the purpose of this study (1) to determine the causative factors of retardation of reading in the eighth grade students of the Parkway School; (2) to determine the relation, if any, of each of these factors to reading ability; and (3) to obtain an over-all picture of the most influential factors in relation to reading.
